I received a letter today from a friend of mine about some information regarding the cottonseed oil. In the letter, a veteran herbalist was mentioned who has been studying and testing herbs and other chemicals for medical treatment since the 70’s. This herbalist shared some documented information about the cotton crop (that most of us don't know about) and its byproduct, cottonseed oil. Here’s the summary of the letter:
“…Cotton crops are one of the most chemically-intensive crops grown in the U.S. Many chemicals approved for use on cotton are not approved for use on food-based crops. Cotton field leftovers are frequently fed to cattle.
Cottonseed oil is not considered a food product by the FDA, and therefore its concentration of fat-soluble pesticides is not monitored by the government agency that is supposed to be protecting us.
Cottonseed oil is commonly used in manufacturing potato chips and other snack foods. Along with soybean oil, it is usually genetically modified and very often partially or fully hydrogenated, making it a trans fat. Fast-food and Asian restaurants that use cheap cottonseed oil for frying may be lacing their foods with dangerous levels of pesticides…”
I also found some online information stating that cottonseed is not considered as animal food nor as a human food. As a matter a fact, it even has certain toxin that is used as a pesticide. As one of the most unregulated crop in the US, application of banned chemicals (not allowed on food crops) on cotton crop is very common.
Cottonseed oil is also high in hydrogenated fat which makes it more dangerous to our health and diet. Read what Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com reveals about what the public does not know about the dangers of hydrogenated fat and how the media even promotes hydrogenated fat as an essential nutrient element in our diet.
On the same token, Mike Adams (of NaturalNews.com) published an article (Cottonseed Nutrient Halts Growth of Brain Cancer Tumors) that talks about how cottonseed nutrient can be used as a cancer treatment. Chemical called AT-101 halts malignant brain cancer tumor from developing.
